Our Data Promise
You’re about to put your home inspection report, your insurance declaration, your receipts, and a floor plan of where you live into someone else’s software. That deserves more than a security badge and a padlock icon.
Here is exactly what we commit to. Each of these is written into our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy — they’re enforceable, not marketing.
You can leave whenever you want, and take everything
A full export — every record and every uploaded file, not just a spreadsheet of model numbers — is available in Settings. Free, on every plan, always.
We will never put export behind a paywall, restrict it during a billing dispute, degrade it into something less useful, or remove it. If your account lapses for non-payment, it drops to the free plan with your files intact and export still working.
We don’t sell your data. There’s nothing to read between the lines
We don’t sell personal information. We don’t share it for advertising. We don’t run ads. We don’t build a profile of you to sell to anyone.
Our business model is simple and it’s on the pricing page: homeowners are free, professionals pay for the tools they use. That’s the whole thing.
Your documents don’t train AI
Some features send content to an AI provider — reading an inspection PDF, or a serial plate photo. That content is processed to give you a result and nothing else. Our AI vendors are contractually prohibited from training on it. We don’t train on it either.
Your pro sees only what they gave you
If a realtor, inspector, or contractor gifted you a portfolio, they can see the assets and records they created, and whether you’ve been active. They cannot see documents in your Vault, assets you added yourself, your other properties, or your service history with anyone else.
You can unlink them from Settings at any time, in one click.
If we ever shut down, you get warning — not a 30-day scramble
Apps in this category have disappeared and taken people’s records with them. So we’ve committed in writing:
- At least 90 days’ notice by email to every account with data
- The service and export keep working for all 90 days
- An offline archive format you can still open years later without us
- No deletion before the notice period ends
- Refunds of unused prepaid subscriptions and credits
If MaintFolio is ever acquired, the buyer inherits these obligations — or you get the same 90 days and the same export window before anything changes.
Delete means delete
Delete your account from Settings and it’s gone from our production systems within 30 days, and out of our encrypted backups within 90. We keep billing records for seven years because tax law requires it. Nothing else.
Where your data actually lives
Not a mystery, and not “bank-grade” — here are the specifics:
- Hosted on Supabase, running on Amazon Web Services, in the United States
- Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Row-level security in the database, so no account can reach another’s records
- Documents in encrypted object storage with access controls
- Encrypted daily backups
- Passwords hashed — we can’t see them and we can’t recover them
- Production data access limited to people who need it, and logged
One thing we ask of you
Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. Our backups exist so we can restore the service after a failure — they aren’t a substitute for you having the original of a document you’d be devastated to lose. Run an export now and then and put it somewhere you control.
We’d rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
